Whining and Shuddering, but no groaning... S70 1998

Hi All,

Haven't posted in a while as I've been blissfully going along without problems. Now I have two I'm concerned about.

1. I'm experiencing a high pitch whine noticable when I take my foot off the gas, that decreases in pitch as I slow to a stop. So, faster the car goes, the higher the pitch of whine. It sounds like something is rubbing but I don't know if its related to the new front rotors/pads I had installed three months ago, or if its something like a bearing. I can't pinpoint exactly where its coming from, but I know its not the engine compartment. Definitely wheels, just not sure which one or front/back. The problem is intermittent and has been going on for about a week or so.

2. When I get up to about 70 MPH the car starts shuddering a bit. What I mean by shuddering is that I feel it mostly in the steering wheel. I haven't been able to go faster to see if it decreases with more speed. It goes away below 70 mph and otherwise handles normally. I know some people say fuel filter, but I'm wondering if I've got issues non-engine related.

I have an appt. in ten days with the indy mechanic, but I want to try and give them some "hints" as to what it could be first.

Thanks for your input. I'm happy to clarify if anyone has questions.

Thanks,

Chari
