Car Won't Start. MAF? 850 1993

This morning when I was leaving for work my 93 850 started but then died right away. It hasn't started since. I checked the codes and I am getting a 1-2-1 on socket A2. I belive this is telling me that my MAF is not getting a signal. I just replaced the MAF in January of 2003. Is it possible that it has already gone bad? Or is there something else causing this? When I attempt to start the car it turns over but doesn't fire up and it smells like gas so I am assuming that my fuel pump is ok. Is this a fair assumption? I checked the connection of the MAF and it doesn't appear to be corroded or anything. Does anyone have an idea what it might be?
