97 850R fog lights won't light 850

One day they were working the next they didn't. I changed both bulbs but still nothing. The dealer thought it might be the switch gone bad, but I thought they were just saying that to get more money out of me. Is that a possibility?

Any advice would be gladly taken- thanks.
