Oil Filter 850

I just recently ordered some Mann oil filters. Just received them yesterday and noticed that the filters did not include the washer/gasket that I recall receiving whenever I bought filters from the dealer parts department. Does anybody know if the washer is critical and whether the one on my old filter is reusable? I'd really like to change the oil today if I can rather than wait til tommorrow until the dealer parts department opens.

Thanks for any advice anybody can offer.
