I have been reading posts from this board for a couple of months now and I would like to say that you are very helpful in trying to solve problems on the 850. I have recently purchased a 1997 850 non turbo with approx. 70,000 miles, and did all the necessary items, before committing to the purchase, like having an independent shop do a pre-purchase inspection of the vehicle. The vehicle passed with one exceptions – a tranny fluid flush. The previous owner performed a 70k service including a timing belt change at approx. 69k miles. Based on available history the tranny fluid was flushed at 55k and then just recently at 69.5k miles.
I enjoy driving the car especially the quality of ride, but lately, I noticed that the transmission will suddenly shift to a lower gear even if the throttle pedal is kept at the same position. It is as if the kick down feature is being activated even if the gas pedal is kept at a constant. Did anybody have the same experience with their tranny and know how to fix this problem?
Thanks in Advance,
Ren
