Automatic Transmission - Problems Shifting in Morning 850 1993

Hi, I have been having problems with my 1993 850 every morning. In DRIVE it won't shift up to higher gears and it feels like it's really struggling. I'll put it into 2nd and drive for about 2-3 miles and then place it in DRIVE and it seems to do fine. I need to replace my Neutral Safety Switch which gave me a lot of starting problems during the colder months. Any chance this may be related? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you. Marcia
PS: It has 173K on it
