Volvo Won't Start V70-XC70 2000

Help! I have been experiencing periodic no start condition. I turn the key all dash lights are illuminated but no cranking sound. Actually no sound at all. This has only happened when the weather is hot and after short trips of less than 5 miles. On most occasions the car restarts after it sits for an extended period. I have taken it to Volvo dealership who checked the battery (ok) then replaced the battery cable. Car started, problem solved. NOT. I have had 2 no starts in the past week, both time having the car towed to the dealer and the car. Once at the dealer the car started on its own. Any ideas or has anyone else experienced a similar set of problems?
