Last month I posted a question regarding installing a power outlet in the cargo area of my 2003 XC70. I received several suggestions, which I very much appreciated. I ordered the Power Outlet from the dealer and received a package that contained a wire harness with connectors and the power outlet. The harness does not seem to be compatible with my 200 XC70 existing harness or connectors. Anyway it seems like a massive overkill for such a simple task.
What I would like to do is make up a simple wire harness, including an in line fuze, then wire the harness and outlet direct to the battery. To me this would be a very clean approach.
Does anyone have any thoughts on why this approach should not work?
My XC70 has a very large female connector located near the spare tire. I have no idea what the purpose of this connector is. The harness that I bought does not mate with it.
Thanks for your thoughts on this - Ed
