Headlamp lens protection V70-XC70 1998

Recently my headlamp lens got hit and damaged by a rock. I ordered my lens but before installing it I'd like to get an opinion on covering the lenses with 3M clear film that sells for about $45.
Does it work well against the usual road hazards and how compatible is it with headlights wipers?
