Under Pressure 850 1994

While this may sound like heresy to this group (of which I have the utmost respect), is there anyway to disable a very tired turbo. I have a '94 850 turbo with ~150k on the original turbo. After some minor (~1tsp/day) oil leaks, a well-respected local mechanic quoted $2,900 for turbo replace + rear main seal + other gasket seal repair. After doing simple math, I unfortunately elected to not have the work performed (oil leaks have increased dramatically, though). However, since the turbo is apparently pressurizing the motor and only replacing the turbo will stop the pressure on the gaskets, is there a way to NOT have the turbo functional while maintain a normally aspirated motor? Once again, very happy w/ the 850 and lots of fun--just can't justify the $$ trade-off.
