rear main seals, power seat cable, and SC-811 stereo 850

Hello all, and thanks to everyone for their continuing involvement in this very helpful forum. Here are 3 issues on a 95 850 non-turbo with 112K miles.

1) Like many of you I had excess crankcase pressure and oil seepage through various seals. My dipstick was pushing itself out and I was finding quite a bit of oil under the transmission case, especially after a high speed run. After cleaning the flame trap, its plastic holder, and the hose leading to it from the oil separator (all clogged up), this is alleviated.

But I am worried about the rear main seal. I assume it was damaged by the overpressure, but now the pressure is under control. Has anyone had experience where the seal leaked some but they were able to live with it if they kept an eye on it? I was losing about 1 quart per 750 or 1000 miles before cleaning up the rebreathing setup. I don't know what the loss is now. There's no evidence of other problems on the engine.

2) On Bay13/volvospeed there are details on replacing the driver's seatback adjusting cable. When my seatback quit I opened up the upholstery and looked at the cable. For all the world it looks like the cable is not broken but merely too short! Its square end had pulled back and disengaged from the motor shaft. When I pulled the cable a bit of the way out of its shroud the seat worked. Is this a design flaw or what? I am thinking to trim and clamp the shroud to ensure that the end of the cable will stay in the motor shaft. Has anyone tried something like this?

3) And finally, on my SC-811 stereo are two DIN connectors, one for an auxiliary power amp (which I don't have) and the other for a CD drive. On Bay13 are posted the pinouts for the speaker and power connectors (the white nylon ones) but not these 2 DIN connectors. I figure that at least the CD drive connector has line inputs where you could connect an auxiliary source such as an MP3 player or CD drive of your choice. Does anyone have the pinouts of these? I am aware that several companies sell adapter cables to attach specific models of player to the CD port, but I want to make my own arrangement if possible.

Many thanks -
ksg
