Frozen Oil Drain Plug S40-V40 2000

My local dealer was kind enough to grossly over-torque my engine oil drain plug on last change. I wanted to do my own, because of cost and wanted to shift to synthetic (dealer won't do that), but when I thought the plug was loosening, it was actually breaking my socket and rounding itself off. It does loosen counter-clockwise doesn't it? Now what? Any thoughts or tips on how to get a partly rounded off, frozen oil drain plug free? This car and dealer are definitely testing my limited Christian virtues. Thanks in advance for any help.
