I've read the many discussions concerning transmission flushing, and mentioned this to a local mechanic who I was recommended to, as being well versed in the mysteries of Volvo's. When I asked him about doing a transmission flush he, said the correct way to service the transmission was to drop the pan, clean the whole thing out, replace the filter etc.. (my '96 turbo has approx 77K on it)What do those who write to this forum, and who have to know much more about this than I will ever do, have to say about this? Is it a good idea, or should I stick to flush method? I was once told by the service manager at the local dealer never to touch the transmission as far as any "service" was concerned.
I relie on the experts!
