I recently bought a used 2001 V70 Turbo Volvo Wagon w/ 52,000 miles. My first mistake was that I bought it from a Ford Dealer I think...
The car recently suffered the "reduced performance" light et al problem which forced me to take it to a dealer. The car was also diagnosed with two split torque mounts, the front and the rear right side sway bar bushings requiring replacement.
I feel ignorant int hat I had noted a roughness and noise when I drove the car... the dealr said it was low air in the right side.... took it into the garage and 10 minutes later brought it out...
I drove it and geard no noise... hmmmmmmm....
The electronic throttle module bugs me though. I read alot of strings about the module failing at 50 to 60 thousnad miles... I am surprised (or not) that Volvo hasn't issued a recall.
Is the replacement module the exact same unit as I am replacing? or is it modified? Hopefully I do not have to contend with this problem again... and again...
I bought an extended warranty from my dealer but Volvo in West Chester PA won't honor it. They said it was becasue they had problems getting their money from those independent companies. My warranty company offered to pay by coorporate credit card though and Stillman Volvo still wouldn't accept it.
Now I know why... they can't overcharge for parts with a warranty company. SO they don't used them.
None the less... I really like my Volvo... is there anything else I need to know or anticipate from this car though???? any common failures I can anticipate???
