Key stuck in ignition S70 1998

The ignition key is stuck in the ignition. I have tried shifting in and out of park, punching the shift interlock button, moving the steering wheel. The key is stuck. What is the fix? What causes this? Is it common? Thanx for any help. This is my 7th Volvo (the first was a 1958 444. I don't want to give up after some freak problem, but this is frustrating.
