Airmix Dial 850

Hi, Is there a bug with the airmix dial on 850s? My repairman said the arm on mine was broken therefore causing it to be stuck open. I had him fix it. I hardly ever use it and now it appears to be stuck open again. I can smell outside air (exhaust) from other vehicles which is how I found the problem the first time. Is there a way I can close it off myself and save the expense of having it repaired again? As I said I never use it. I don't feel like paying to have it repaired again if there is an inherent problem with the design. Thanks, Jay
