1998 S70 T5 Ticking head…is this a time bomb S70 1995

I’ve read a lot about this problem recently and I’d like your assistance is narrowing the possibilities in my particular case.

I’ve noticed that my motor is ticking. I believe the sound is coming from the head/lifters. It’s quiet when the motor is running cold and is consistent above 1500 rpm when warm. It’s audible in neutral and under load. The sound is a consistent tick, tick, tick; the time between each impact being even.

I took a look under the oil filler cap while the motor was running and oil sloshed out onto the cover. There appears to be lots of oil in the head, at least in the center. My local Volvo dealer recently started using Castrol 10/30 Synthetic Blend and that’s what’s in the motor now.

Am I looking at a lifter problem or is this all about new O-rings for the oil pump? What tests need to be done to accurately diagnose the condition? Should I treat this matter as urgent? This car has 83 k miles and has received the best of care up to this point.

Any thoughts?
