Car idles up & down, then shuts off. No chekc engine light. S80

My car 2001 S80 would idel up and down when the A/C was put on and a few nights ago when I went to start it, the car would not start. The message window said something like "ENGINE KILL ACTIVATRED" Tonight while driving the car the car starting hunting for idle and then shut off. The car could only be driven home while giving it gas, the seond you let up on the gas, it would quit. No messages are in the info window or are there any check engine lights etc. What are your thoughts? Is there a way to retrieve codes other than a scan-tool? How do you reset the computer?
