Need advice on the purchase of a 98 v70XC V70-XC70

Hi, all,

I have been looking for over a month trying to find a decent 850 wagon; but with no luck so far because of either price or car (there weren't many wagons to choose from anyway.). Then I switched to look for a V70 (FWD) and still have had no luck (due to limited amount of cash, dare not to look for a 2001 or newer car). Today, I test drove a 98 V70 XC with about 74k miles on the clock and am thinking to buy this car. This may be because I have been out of patience. I will appreciate very much if you could give me some suggestions on the purchase of this car.

The following is the info:
1. From the test drive, this car seemed a little better but not much in power and handling than my 95 850 base. Braking was not as good as my 850 (sedan). I didn't have a chance to drive it on the highway.
2. Power windows and sunroof and mirrors weren't working at the time of my checking the car -- Dealer said all the problems would be fixed before delivery.
3. There are books but no maintenance records available--the salesperson found a couple of recent repair records. AC was one of the issues. Seemed to me that AC was not as cold as my 850.
4. Tires showed uneven wearing and seemed that the four tires were not from the same purchase
5. There are some scratches and cracks; but in general, exterior and interior are in a good condition.
6. Timing belt has not been changed and I asked the dealer to change it.

The price for the car is $10650 and there will be 2 months warrantee (not sure what are covered.). So, should I go for it? I am going to check it more thoroughly on Monday. Are there any things I should pay more attention to? Is there a way to tell how well the turbo works? Thank you all in advance for your inputs.

Best,

Puhong
