The right trim panels came loose on my Colorado trip. With no manual to show me how to remove them so they would stop dragging on the ground, I just forced them off. That was OK for the front fender piece, which had the nipple break off inside the fender well. Not OK for the door panels!
Open the door and find a little round plastic hole cover, pop it off. Use a torx driver dabbed with grease or chewing gum and remove the screw. Careful, I lost my screw to the inside of the door (I used a 1/4 inch sheet metal screw to put it back on).
With the screw taken out, slide the plastic panel forward and lift off of the door. That way nothing will break or bend.
The PO had a fender bender with the right front and the fender was re-installed too closely to the front door. When the door opened, the trim caught on the fender and pushed the front trim piece forward. Same thing happened with the rear door. We were lucky that the trim fell loose in the parking lot!
