Hi Listers! I am SO excited. With the help of the list and Bay 13 I was able to swap out the PNP - neutral safety switch - from my car. It was scarey to do though but the car is working really well. For the past year when the weather was cooler I could start the car for the first time and if I tried to start it again nothing would happen. Also when the car was cold in the AM it would have trouble shifting and when braking after going freeway speeds it would shimmy big time. Well - all those problems are solved with the PNP switch. I did not have the Volvo adjustment jig tool and just marked up the old switch. I had the hardest time getting the contacts out of the little black plastic box until I was able to push the car out of the garage and look at it under bright, natural light. (yes, that is possible in Seattle, you nay sayers!). Then I could see the shiney metal tab that I needed to be pushing.
So after this job I decided I was deservant of a one piece coverall like real mechanics wear. Now, I wonder what will break next.... Marcia from Seattle
ps: does anyone know what PNP stands for... I'm thinking pretty nifty part or part nobody 'preciates....
