Yesterday my wife's mother got in her 2002 Volvo S60, the non-turbo variety, and had a complete power loss when she attempted to start it. The transmission was in park and none of the equipment was left on. To make a long story short, she called the Volvo 800 number, a truck came out, jump started the engine and the driver told her to take it to the dealer some 10 miles away. The dealer looked at it immediately and said the battery had A FULL CHARGE AND THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT OR THE AUTO. One strange thing was when the mother-in-law was driving to the dealer she noticed the clock was blank. This surely must have indicated a complete power failure at some point?
Was this electrical failure due to gremlins or does the 2002 S60 have some inherent fault in the electrical system?
Any help in this matter will be appreciated.
