2004 S80 T6 transmission S80

Could anyone provide any insight into the long term reliability of this transmission. I know that the S80 has improved significantly from the 99-01 model years, but I was surprised to learn that this $46K car has a GM transmission. I own a new S80 T6 and love it, have owned two other volvo's and was interested in anyones experience with the newer T6's and maintainance tips, seems to be conflicting advise on transmission fluid changes every 25K or so. Thanks
