I an sixty-five and have driven nothing but Volvos for the past thirty-five years. I would like to buy either a 1997 850 R low-mileage wagon (50+K) or a 2000 V-70 SE with the same. Both are end-of-the-line production models, and if you bargain hard both can be had for about the same price. On the one hand you have a newer car with all the bells and whistles except turbo, and on the other a model fully decked out with 260+ horsepower but three years older. I will be keeping the car most of my driving life (another ten or fifteen years barring unforseen accidents) or until George decides we all have to switch to hydrogen. I like working on Volvos and can easily handle maintenance problems on both. Can someone help me straighten my thinking out on this one? I know Volvo made many changes to the 70 series, mostly cosmetic in my estimation, but what are the pros and cons between these two models for your last one? Dick
