I replaced the front pads and rotors on my 01 v70 last night. Evrything went smmoothy, but when I drive it now, the pedal stroke is considerably longer than it was before the job. I did compress the pistons to get the new pads in - there was no overflow into the reservoir. As a matter of fact, the level in the reservoir didn't seem to rise much, if at all. I thought that was unusual, but was happy not to be mopping up brake fluid. I did not open the hydraulic system, other than the cap on the reservoir, so I can't imagine how air might have gotten into the system. I also did pump the pedal up gently after installing each set of pads/rotor to re-extend the piston. The brakes do stop the car well - they just have a really long stroke to get the job done. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as this is the wife's Volvo.
