difficulty shifting 850 1997

Up until two days, shifting the manual transmission on my 850 was done with ease. For some apparent reason that changed suddenly. I can still shift into all gears, but I feel a lot more resistance. It can take me two or three attempts to shift into the correct gear and it requires much more force.

I love this car. Any ideas on what might be happening.
