Fuel economy V40 1.9d (2002) S40-V40

Hi,

I've just bought a Volvo V40 1.9d from 2002. According to some reviews I've read the average fuel consumption of this car should be around 5.5 l/100km. However, I've been driving the car for some 3000 km, mainly on the motorway (120 km/u) using cruise control. So far, I've managed an average fuel consumption of 6.6 l/ 100km. I've already checked tire-pressure and I also turned-off the climate control but nothing seems to improve my fuel consumption.

Is this a normal fuel consumption?
