96 850 alarm (battery drain) 850 1996

I am trying to completely disconnect a 96 850 turbo wagon alarm; it is intermittently causing the hazard lights to come on and stay on (no flashing, just solid "on"), which drains the battery, usually in the middle of the night in my garage.

Is there a cheap/easy way to -completely- disconnect the alarm? Or is there a way to test/reset the alarm?

I've tried removing the alarm relay but that simply makes the car not start at all (dash "idiot" lights come on, but no engine turnover).

Thanks, Lance
