What should I do to this car, help please. S80

Hi:
My 1999 S80 now is in 82K. Two problems appeared two month ago:
1. After the stop sign, it is very hard to pick up the speed, seems no power.
If shut up the engine and restart,it will be fine for about 5 minutes, when warned up, it happens again.
2. When drving on highway, it needs 3500RPM to keep a 75mph speed. If my foot
lifts from gas peddle a little bit, RPM will drop to below 2000 very fast.
I went to the deal, and another Volvo repair shop, here is the diagnostic result:
1.ECM-9160 Electronic throttle module
ECM-91B7 Throttle unit, internal fault
2.TCM-000B Shift solenoid S1, Hydraulic fault.

They told me to replace throttle module AND transmission, because they are not sure if the two problems are connected, total cost $4500+tax.
Now I have been driving this car like this for 2 month, everything seems OK except the slow pick up from stop sign.
I read a lot of posts on this forum, I know the best way is to replace everything.
Now my question is :
1. Can I just keep driving like this w/o doing anything?
2. If I just replace the throttle module, is it possible to fix both problems?
3. If I just replace the throttle module and second problem not being fixed, (dealer told me the first problem will be fixed)can I keep driving until the transmission totally died (I mean ignor the trans problem if it has a problem)?

Thanks lot for giving me suggestions, it is my decision time to spend $900 or $4500 :-(
