Does the iPd 3/8'' magnetic in-line filter fit the power steering return hose on a turbo? V70-XC70 1999

Hello,

I have a '99 XC for which I want to install an iPd 3/8'' magnetic in-line filter to the return hose (low pressure) on the power steering pump. My Volvo mechanic is concerned because the return hose looks to be to large in diameter for the 3/8'' filter. Has anyone installed the iPd power steering filter on the their V70 Turbo or XC? Thanks to all who reply.
