Removed Console - Car Won't Start 850 1994

This weekend I removed the console to adjust my handbrake and work on the ratchet. I didn't try and start the car until today, when it wouldn't start. No cranking at all. First I noticed it was difficult to get the key in the ignition, then I realized I had left the shifter in Drive or 3. I had moved the shifter a number of times through the interlock button on the console when I was working on the handbrake. After moving the Shifter back into Park the car would not crank. I did hear a clicking/mechanical noise in the console when I tried to start the car. I tried jiggling the shfter. but that had no effect.

When I stopped by my local independent Volvo mechanic, he said to start with a Jump. However, the battery seems good and there was power. He did not think it was the PND switch since he said that was under the battery and I wouldn't hear a clicking in the console. He did not think there were any connections under the console that could affect this.

I'm at work now, but when I get home here's what I intend to try in this order.

1. Move the shfter back and forth using the console interlock button.
2. Try and jumpstart the car
3. Remove the console and see if all the connections are good and that I didn't cut a wire inadvertantly.

Any other thoughts or ideas would be helpful
