Good morning,
I just purchased a V70 T5 5speed with 39k on the clock. The car is wonderful.
I tried searching for the answer to the question below, but nothing could be found.
I also own a Saab 9³ Convertible 5speed. If anyone is familiar with these other Swedes, they might know that newer Saabs are quite sensative to spark plugs. Basically, the ignition system is tuned to NGK resistor type spark plugs which are used for knock detection in overboost situations. Also, the used of other brand plugs is one theory to the high failure rate of Saab's Direct Ignition Cassette (4 coil packs in one unit with a cost of $300 or so). To ensure this capability, the best recommendation for Saabs is to replace the plugs every 10k or 15k miles. Thus, basic NGK copper suffice in this situation.
So, are high pressure turbo Volvos similar beasts? If so, are Champion plugs the only one to use and what are the intervals. If not, what works the best.
Have a good day,
tony
