Hi!
I have just reconnected the drivers seat heater, the connections at the thermostat were broken. I soldered on new connectors and the seat heats fine. As I wanted to know how the thermostat worked, I connected a ammeter in series.
It turns out that the heater starts out with 5.9A and slowly, over 5 miles or so, drops to 5A. At this point the seat is unnecessarily (but not uncomfortably) hot. Then it cuts out completely. After stopping and waving cold air at the seat cushion for a couple of minutes, it starts again at 5A.
Is this how your seats behave? I would have thought that the thermostat should reach a certain temperature and then decrease the current to hold. The huge hysteresis in the thermostat leads me to believe that it is malfunctioning.
It would be nice to hear if you can confirm how your seat heater works.
