Tailgate Panel repair Kits 850 1994

So, I am finally replacing the tailgate struts which are on their last legs and cause the tailgate to slam on my head when I lean in to the car... now I can also repair the inside panel that is loose due to frequent slamming from the shot struts!

I see 2 options.

1) get new clips at the dealer and just clip it back up (clips are missing) and hope it stays with the tailgate closing more gently

2) this "repair kit" that screws the tailgate panel on somehow, claiming to quickly and permanently fix rattles and detatchment:

Has anyone ever used this kit?
