I am looking at replacing my 91 940 Turbo with an 1999 S70 AWD with 55,000 mi for $8800. The car drove fine, no apparent problems. The trasmition fluid is brown, and I am not familiar with how it's supposed to smell, but it didn't smell much like burnt. What should I be worried about as far as the transmition fluid is concerned?
The dealer (small startup) doen't have service records available (but might be able to produce them....). He did show me a receipt for labor he just had done on the car, including breaks and a new starter motor. Is it unusual that the starter motor had to be replaced?
I called the Volvo dealer and they had records of the car being in twice in Spring 2004 for new O2 sensor, wipers, etc. The car had previously been registered somewhere in Connecticut, so I wasn't able to find out much about scheduled maintaince.
The price seems pretty low, should that be enough to offset any potential problems?
Thanks for your help,
Kate
