Front Spoiler Removal 850

How do you remove the front spoiler from the black plastic bumper cover? After I removed the whole assembly I tried to push the plastic tabs out that secure the spoiler to the cover but the design of these tabs have made this removal near impossible (I don't want to break or snap them off!!) Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
