How to take kick panel off to get to Cabin Filter V70-XC70 2003

I'm trying to get the kick panel off to get to the cabin filter, but no amount of prying pushing or pulling seems to get the small leg by the passenger door loose. The Bay 13 site ( for S80's) says to push forward and down..... but that doesn't seem to work. I'm afraid I'm going to break something if I keep going. Any ideas on how to get this off???
