stereo system problems when people on the radio are talking V70-XC70 2004

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any idea about a strange problem i am having. I have a new 04 v70, and I like to listen to the radio, sometimes music sometimes talk. The problem is that whenever someone starts talking AM or FM, the stereo sounds terrible, particularly the left rear. Been to two volvo dealers, they both said that it's the way it was wired - that the system is designed for cds. When you listen to music or cd, the system sounds great - the speaker isn't blown or anything. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?
