O.K., I bought a boat - a folbot folding kayak/canoe with a sailing rig. The boat arrives Tuesday. My expectation is that the disassembled boat and sailing rig, plus whatever other gear, will fit in the 850 sedan, probably with rear seats folded down. The estimated weight (from seller's shipping) is 160 lbs.
My 740 has rear springs taken from a wrecked 700 series turbo wagon, so unladen it rides high in the rear like a bootlegger's car. I have no qualms about loading it up for long trips, and it actually handles & rides a little better with a full trunk.
The 850, however, is a different automobile, entirely, and my question is whether it would be wise to replace its stock, base-model springs with those from a certain wrecked turbo 850 wagon??
Furthermore, has anybody here had experience hauling their folding kayaks or canoes in the trunkspaces of their Volvos? One of the reasons I chose the boat (besides the used boat's unimagineably low price plus shipping) is that I won't need a roof rack or trailer.
Thanks,
Chris
