I have a 96 850 Turbo. I've been fighting with my A/C since I purchased the car. I have a new evaporator and compressor. The system works great as long as the temperature is less than 85 degrees. I live in south Texas where the summers are quite hot. If I get stuck in traffic and it's 95 degrees outside, my air goes from cold to cool to warm. The compressor does not stop running, the radiator fan is on, and the recirc switch is activated. The vent temperature reaches about 68 degrees on a very hot day when completely stopped. The dealer tells me that there's nothing wrong! Can this be right? My 97 Nissan stays cold all the time. Is it just a bad design? It seems like bad heat transfer at the condenser. My fan is running and there are no obstrucions. The temperature gauge always shows normal. Here is where it really gets weird: On a really hot day, once I sit still for a while and the air warms up, it never really gets cold again once I start going again. The compressor is running and I get a slight cool down, but it's very slight. I've tried everything with this car. I like the car but will have to sell it if I can't fix the AC. I recently switched to duracool refridgerant which has made an improvement, but still not cold enough. Has anyone installed an auxilary condenser fan? Please help me save my 850.
