With gas prices on the way up, lubricating oil prices will follow. I know it's not wise to buy things that have rubber and plastic in them for extended shelf storage, but what about lubricating oils? I pay over $25 a liter for Mobil 1, 0-40 here in Norway, though I know it costs just under $5 a quart at Wal-Mart in the US. I recently came across an incredibly low price on Mobil 1 0-40 here in Norway--some wholesaler stuck with quarts rather than liters, and trying to unload.
My question is this: How long will Mobil 1 last on the shelf in terms of years? Gasoline and diesel I know both have limited storage times. Would you want to buy a lot if the opportunity presented itself, or is lubricating technology (like computer) moving so fast that you wouldn't want to get too far ahead of yourself? Dick
