ECU 850 1996

Hi There
I am in Australia.
I have a 850 1996/8 10valve 2.5L Auto.
My engine ECU is Simens and has a Y.2 Mark on it. I purchased another one from U.K which also look like my one, Fits in my car and also has that Y.2 code on it. I am affraid to start the car thinking it might damage something. Would any of you guys know if they are the same? Or, how to find out that they are or not?
Is there a website that would explain theses things?
