Noticed in a parking lot two days ago when it was about 90F outside, that my A/C pump was switching on and off about every ten or fifteen seconds or so. Certain my fluid was low, I bought a can of 134a and a pressure gauge, and checked it while the engine was running and the fan on high. The needle on the gauge fluctuated between the top of the green (low) and almost up to the top of the blue (normal) as the pump switched on and off. Yet the pump continued to cycle on and off every ten or fifteen seconds. I don't don't know what the problem is. Too low refrigerant? The fluctuating gauge wouldn't seem to indicate so, in that it didn't stay within the low "green". Nor did it stay within the normal blue zone. Some orofice within the pump plugged when it changes from liquid to gas, as someone suggested? A relay? What to do? Advice really appreciated. Dick
