tappety/claterty engine noise 850

I have noticed that under acceleration uphill a tappety/claterty noise emits from the engine, seems only under load.I pulled a code ( engine noise ).Dosent do it all the time though.
I have read in past archives that Mobil 1 synthetic will reduce the noise or remove the problem,is this true? I don't know what type of oil is in the engine untill I change it out. My old 244 used to make the same noise in very similar circumstances. 94 855
