Considering 850 purchase 850

I'm an old Volvo guy...but kind of new to the 850's. Please advise about which years are stronger - features to look for - things to anticipate. Did find a nice 93 GLT w/ less than 100K on the odometer. I know that was the first year -- is that year ok?? Thanks in advance for your comments!!
