While trying to free up a jammed seat belt on my rear passenger side, I decided to remove the plastic cover surrounding the seat release latch. There were several dimples in the cover which appeared to contain plastic covers for what I thought were attachment screws (like most everywhere else on interior trim). Simple matter to prise out the cover and find my Torx set.
Not so! As the first one was removed, it became clear that it was firmly attached to more plastic extending into the fitting ... much like a plastic rivet. That seemed strange for a trim piece that appeared to be removeable. So, on I went and "broke" all of them to remove the cover. Worse yet, I ultimately found that this was unnecessary to free the belt. The cover is now held on by gravity only.
The Question: Has anyone else done this? What were the designers thinking? Any suggestions for re-attachment?
TIA ....
