Trailer hitch reciever size 850 1993

I am trying to find a reciever for my factory installed trailer hitch. I have tried two different sizes from my local parts store and one is too small and the other is too big. I can't remember what sizes they were, but they are the most common sizes. The local Volvo dealer said it was like 1.5in or something like that but I tried that size and it was too small.

Does anyone know what size it is exactly, and where to find it since everyplace I call says the same size, but it is either too big or too small.

I am moving and would really like to use the hitch I have. Sorry I can't be more specific with the sizes.
