Interesting A/C Problem 850 1995

Last winter, I purchased a 95 850. When inspecting the vehicle pre-sale, I turned on the A/C and let it run for a while; it was nice and cool. A few months later, when I tried the A/C again, no dice. Only warm air.

After reading many posts, I determined I may have a leak somewhere (evaporator?) and decided to try an recharge the R-134a freon myself. I purchased a self recharge kit from Autozone (27.97), complete with gauge to measure the pressure.

After determing the freon was in fact low, I proceded with the instructions. After inserting the 14oz of freon into the system, the gauge read 44 psi, and I assumed I was done. Wrong

A/C never really got cold. Went under hood to inspect, and could hear a loud hissing coming from what seemed to be the fan box. I tried to trace the metal tubing from the low pressure fill valve, and it does seem to lead to the fan box.

So my question is, what component has the leak? I know the evaporator is inside the climate control box in the dash, so it can't be that. I know the condenser is located up front by the radiator...could that be the culprit? Does anyone have any experience replacing a condenser?

Thanks,
