I've pulled trouble code 2-2-3 from A1 of my 94 850 turbo, indicating "throttle position sensor too low".
The diagnostic test for the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is to check for voltage on the terminals, however, as I was doing so, I discovered that power was only getting to it intermittently. I also discovered that the Idle Control Valve (the aluminum cylinder under the black plastic cover on the throttle) did not always come on or stay on while the igition was turned to position II. I have not had any trouble codes indicating the Idle Control Valve but could a faulty TPS affect the power to the ICV?
The car has had intermittent starting problms for about a year(it once died while driving); each time separated by a couple months. Today I noticed the correlation that the car will only start when the ICV is making the humming sound.
What's your guess, TPS or ICV or ???
Many thanks for your thoughts
