Clutch Shim Removal S70 1998

Looks like a worn compressor clutch is the cause of my warm A/C woes. The gap between the clutch plates measures .029, which it has been said is wide enough to cause problems. So I'm planning on removing the face plate and taking some shims out to get to the desired .020-.015. It seems I've read here that this procedure can be done without pulling the compressor out and/or discharging the system. However, I haven't read where anyone talks about how to do it. Who has taken this job on? Are there instructions out there for the procedure? How does this one rate on the difficulty scale?
